Faster Payments

An improved Faster Payments service

We have been busy sharing the improvements we are making to our Faster Payments service, so you may have seen that Faster Payments will have extended times from 26 May 2021.

Making and receiving payments

Individual Banking customers

From 26 May 2021, UK payments you make through Individual Online Banking or the Individual Banking app will be processed immediately. They reach the beneficiary in a matter of hours or minutes, including at evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This also applies to payments you receive electronically, but are reliant on the financial provider sending the payment. 

Payments you make after 23:40 will be processed after midnight and will be dated as the next day on your statement.

You can also make Faster Payments through Handelsbanken Customer Support up to 22:00 seven days a week, or via your branch during their normal office hours.

Corporate Banking customers

From 26 May 2021, Faster Payments you make through Corporate Online Banking or the Corporate Banking app will be processed immediately. They reach the beneficiary in a matter of hours or minutes, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This also applies to payments you receive electronically, but are reliant on the financial provider sending the payment 

Payments you make after 23:40 will be processed after midnight and will be dated as the next day on your statement.

Faster Payments can be made via your branch too during their usual office hours.

For an initial period there will be system downtime each weekend between Saturday 18:00 and Sunday 04:00 GMT, and other periods of essential maintenance on weekends lasting no more than 10 minutes This will only impact payments coming into your account.

Important information

When you make or receive a payment, your available balance will be adjusted in real time, seven days a week For payments you receive, funds will be available for withdrawal immediately and will start earning interest on the same day.

As a result of the increased availability of the Faster Payments service, please be aware that your account balance may change during evenings, weekends and bank holidays, and ensure there are sufficient funds to cover your payments.

For incoming Faster Payments the following sort codes are used: For Individual Banking customers this is 60-95-34 and for Corporate Banking customers it’s 40-51-62. However, there are a small number of Individual Banking customers who use this Corporate sort code; regardless of the sort code that is used the payment will be processed.

Reading your statement

Where a payment has been made or received on a weekend or bank holiday, on your account statement the ‘Details’ column will show the actual date of the payment. The ‘Value Date’ will show the date of the next working day after the payment was made or received.
