Before you open an account with us, we must first verify your identity to ensure we are opening the account for the right person. We’ve partnered with Mitek, a market leader in electronic identification and verification, to complete our verification checks. Mitek provide the technology to complete the necessary verification checks, safely and securely. We use Mitek technology to confirm your identity and authenticate your documents, in addition to Equifax, who we use to perform searches for our background checks and address verification procedures.

How we will verify your identification via Mitek
You will be required to take a clear picture of an in-date identity document (a valid passport, driving licence, or ID card) and to take a photo of yourself with a clear background, which we’ll use to compare to the identification document provided. Finally, your address verification and other background checks will be done electronically via Equifax.

What documents do I need to provide?
You will need to provide one of the following:
- Driving License
- Passport
- ID Card
There may be some specific requirements relating to each type of document. To help reduce the risk of your document being deemed unacceptable, please make sure that you read the relevant instructions within the Mitek portal, prior to uploading your documents.
How do I know when I will need to confirm my identity?
Your local branch will let you know when they require you to confirm your identity.
How do I access the Mitek portal?
You’ll receive a text and/or an email with a link to the Mitek portal, which will guide you through the process to upload everything you need. Once Mitek have completed all the checks, the branch will be back in touch to tell you the next steps.
I need further help & support – when should I contact my local branch?
Your local branch will always be here for help and support whenever needed. However, if you require assistance with any of the following circumstances, please contact your local branch:
- I have not received my link to complete my identity check
- I want the link sending to a different phone number/email address
- My circumstances have changed since providing my details
- I can’t supply the correct documents to Mitek
- My documents/liveness check gets rejected
- My link to complete my identity check has expired

Do you share my details with Mitek?
We provide Mitek with information that helps to confirm your identity (such as your name, contact details and address). Mitek will then send the results back to us when they’ve completed their checks. Are my details safe with Mitek?
Mitek use a secure encrypted connection to keep your data secure, and once they’ve completed their checks, will delete all copies of your data/documents within an appropriate timeframe.
